  I don't believe there is a heaven...

  i don't believe there is a heaven that so many religions teach, do you?

  it all sounds like a fairy tale made up to make dying easier or as a threat to make someone have a conscience... i got into a discussion about it with my jw converted to catholic daughter and she just couldn't believe anyone could feel like i do.

  i am glad she threw away the jw teachings and glad she believes in something so wonderful but i for one just can't.

  I know how you feel. I had to get away from the watchtower and was agnostic for 10 years to deprogram myself before I could look at everything with a clean slate. It's great to question such things and to use your own mind. I never drank the watchtower cool-aid thanks to that. The older I get the more I find myself not being surprised by just how strange this physical world is. Everything we know and can comprehend is formed in this physical dimension that we occupy and can relate to in such a short existence. Makes you wonder what's out there and why Humans have such a pre conceived component to comprehend the spiritual and such existential thoughts.

  As Woody Allen once said, "I can't sleep at night, I just lie awake thinking about death and the abyss."

  59 locations tied-in plus spanish.

  anticipating 258,000 attendance from tickets given out.

  does anyone know what was confirmed to be discussed at the special invite meeting last saturday the 22nd and this evening the 29th?.

  my mom received a golden ticket and i would like to tell her what will be discussed before she attends.

  having any insider knowledge that is supposed to be only for privileged jw's would lend as a creditable source.. .

  FYI, On NPR with Neil Connan they discussed child abuse and reform in the catholic church and they read on the air some ones comment regarding the similar coverup in Jehovah's Witnesses .
  Just thought I would share. It is at the 23 or 24 min mark.

  My Letter To the Watchtower

  this is an exact copy of my letter to the watchtower.

  it never recieved a reply (i did not include 'attn writing committee' in the address however).

  please keep in mind that when i wrote this i had just started my intensive research into their beliefs/history, and despite my agressive tone i really did expect a satisfactory answer.

  Great letter! Covers a lot of ground, I doubt they read more then a paragraph or two before they put in the apostate bin. I would just keep sending it every couple weeks until you finally get an answer. Maybe a multiple shorter versions with one paragraph and one question. We should be flooding their mail rooms with letters of checks and balances. Someone has to read them and it increases their disposal costs. The letters that probably get the most attention are estate and will donations and pedophile or lawsuit letters that have to be addressed.

  Why Jehovah's Witnesses Are Discouraged From Using the Internet

  at a recent series of circuit assemblies, the governing body put out warnings on what in their view is the latest danger from satan, designed to break the faith of jehovah's witnesses everywhere.. facebook.. yes, thats right, apparantly, the gb is concerned because a lot of people are having "facebook sex".

  they are meeting old friends who aren't jehovah's witnesses and getting it on with whomever would willingly sleep with them.

  evidentally, the gb would like their flock to believe that when jw's get on facebook and other social networking sites, fornication happens.. now, this is news.

  had a good look into the doctrine, beliefs and practices of jws and to be honest, i don't really see anything wrong with it at all.. it's biblical and i've had such an eye opener the past year or so reading some of their books and magazines .

  is there really any real reasons why i shouldn't want to get involved further?

  If it is the "truth" then you should be able to research its history, doctrines and how prove them to be truth and on a solid track record and foundation. It should with stand all criticism, a complete audit should be made before you dedicate your life to a group of men in brooklyn as your mediator to Jesus Christ.

  ok i was raised in the "truth" but no one ever studied with me.

  my parents were abusive and i got nothing from them or anyone in the "truth" no bible study any attention nothing from anyone.. i read the great teacher book to myself at the age of seven, and when i was in my mid teens i started studying on my own with no help from anyone nor any answers my questions expect to be rebuked if i asked the wrong question so i quit asking it was god's chosen religion after all who was i to question anything.

  i conducted the sort of study and this elder looked at me and said where is your head covering.

  How about women not allowed to wear pants or pant suits, only little house on the prairie dresses? This is a rule folks, or get called to the back room... (or the back of the bus)

  As a JW, what did you do on Christmas Day?

  growing up a jw, we always had family from out of town visit or we would go visit family.

  it was fun to get together with my other jw cousins over christmas.

  (however, it was hell going back to school in january as the only girl without a new sweater).. as a married jw though it was a different story.
